On Monday, May 11th, 2026, the Sierra Club is holding a rally in Albany to urge lawmakers to pass the Plastic Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act (PRRIA). It is a bill that will cut toxic plastic packaging at the source, reduce climate pollution, save taxpayers money, and strengthen recycling and reuse systems across New York.

Big Plastic’s lobbyists — including lobbyists for the chemical and fossil fuel industries - are in Albany every day, pounding legislators to convince them to kill this bill. We need your presence in Albany to ensure that legislators hear from the people they actually represent.

What to Expect

A complete agenda will be sent upon registration or contact chair@lisierraclub.org for it.

If you’re new to this, don’t worry! You’ll be part of a team with an experienced leader, and we’ll provide talking points and written materials in advance.

After you RSVP, you’ll receive an invitation to a virtual briefing during which we’ll review the bill, go over the schedule, and share tips for effective advocacy.

Free Bus Transportation Available

Thanks to generous supporters, free buses will run from:

·  Suffolk: 525 Wicks Rd, Brentwood – 7:00 AM

·  Nassau: 500 Searingtown Rd, Roslyn (Christopher Morley Park) – ~7:30 AM

Buses arrive in Albany around 10:30 AM and depart at 4:30 PM.Seats are limited — RSVP early to reserve your spot!

RSVP today and stand with advocates from across New York to cut toxic plastic packaging and put people over plastic.

See you in Albany on May 11!

It is very important that you register soon, so that we can schedule appointments with your legislators and make sure we have the right number of buses lined up for those coming from the NYC metro area. Signing up last-minute makes our lives much harder so please register early.
