Witness World Fish Migration Day on LI! (April 21)

When: April 21, 2018 10am – 12pm at Woodhull Dam in Riverhead, NY

What: Join the Peconic Estuary Program for World Fish Migration Day to celebrate the spring migration of alewife (also known as river herring). We will be set up at Woodhull Dam to meet with alewife experts, observe and practice techniques that scientists use to monitor alewife, and learn about their life history and importance to Long Island through educational displays. This will be a fun, family-friendly event. Join us anytime between 10am – 12pm. Please contact peptalk@peconicestuary.org to let us know you’ll be there!

Directions: Park under the solar panels at the Suffolk County offices (310 Center Drive S) and walk across Center Drive (route 51). You will see a small wooden fence. To the right of the fence you will see a clearing in the woods where there is a trail to the dam. We will be set up along this trail.

The Peconic Estuary Program is hosting this event. Please visit their website peconicestuary.org.
